Lubbock Amateur Radio Club is a general interest club that participates in radio contesting, DXing, ham license preparation, CW code practice, civic projects, emergency communications, and more. We are a 501(c)3 Texas Not for Profit Corporation.
We welcome all Amateur Radio Operators as well as anyone that is interested in the hobby. We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm. During this time, with the exception of monthly business meetings, we focus on training and education related to our hobby. We also focus on helping Amateur Radio Operators with anything they would like to learn or even build in relation to Amateur Radio. Simply put we a group of HAMS HELPING our fellow HAMS……
Our club is active in various facets of Amateur Radio. Typical Amateur interest includes DX Contacts (International World Wide Contacts), Contesting, CW (Morse Code), EMComm (Emergency Communications), Digital Modes (PSK31, RTTY), SSTV (Slow Scan Television) and more. If it involves Amateur Radio, we likely have other members in our club with similar interests. Our clubhouse provides our members access to an Amateur Radio Station for those who may not have there own equipment.
We operate from the Noble Stidham Memorial Clubhouse located at 1108 98th Street Lubbock, TX 79416. That is one half mile west of the interstate highway on 98th St. The clubhouse is on the north side of the street and is identified by the sign next to the gate entrance.
Normal meeting times are Tuesday evenings at 7pm. License exams are held the first Tuesday of each month by ARRL Volunteer Examiners. More information about licensing and tests can be found here. Our General Membership Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month. Special classes and training sessions are held on the third and fourth Tuesdays. You can check the calendar for information on upcoming classes and training.
We are a family oriented club and as such we try to involve families in all of our activities. On those months when there is a fifth Tuesday, we typically host a family night which includes a meal, activities and time to socialize.
We hope you will visit out club and join us in our adventure in Amateur Radio.
