Ham Radio Boot Camp is designed to get newly licensed Hams up and running the right way. Lets face it. Getting your ticket is just the beginning of a long road to becoming an avid Ham. Boot Camp is about learning the most important skills/information so you can build your station, work with other Hams, and get on the air with confidence. Boot Camp is free and open to the public. Hams and Non-Hams alike are welcome to attend. So if you just passed your exam or you are on the fence about getting into amateur radio, Ham Radio Boot Camp may be just what you need.
Structure for our Classes:
Each month we will host a Boot Camp on a specific topic.
At the beginning of every month, we will post a new topic and information for that months boot camp. Any material needed to study will be included in the post.
Throughout the month, attendees can discuss topics and ask questions on LARC’s Boot Camp Slack channel.
On the 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm we will hold a boot camp class at the clubhouse with demonstrations/tutorials to make learning the material intersting and fun for all who attend.
Topics will include:
Help with choosing equipment
Help setting up your station
ITU phonetics, Q signals, and voice procedure
duplex operation and programming repeaters
Contesting basics
Various bands and modes
Antenna building
